REV. WINSTON LESLIE SMITH

Seneca –Rev. Winston Leslie Smith, 86, husband of late Mary Frances Savage Smith, of 1404 Dyar Road, went to be with his Lord and Savior August 29, 2018 at his residence.

A native of Oconee County, he was the son of the late William Leonard and Hattie Chappell Smith. Rev. Winston Smith was a graduate of Forest Business College with a degree in Accounting. He retired from T R W Clemson. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Westminster First Baptist Church, member of the T.E.L Sunday School Class and a member of the American Legion Post 107. Rev. Winston Smith, a member of the Gideon’s International and a United States Army Veteran having served during Korean War, was honored with a Quilt of Valor in April 2018. Rev. Smith’s favorite past time was listening to bluegrass gospel music and picking his guitar.

Survivors include daughters, Patricia Ann Holbrooks ( Doyle) of Seneca, Regina Winkler (Wally) of West Columbia; brothers, Curtis Smith (Betty) of Seneca, Dean Smith (Janie) of Athens, GA; sister in law, Annie Laura Smith of Seneca; five grandchildren, Sherry Holbrooks Lay (Jeff), Lee Holbrooks (Alisha), Timothy Holbrooks, Alexander Winkler (Courtney) and Kennedy Winkler; ten great grandchildren, LeeAnn Holbrooks, Hunter Holbrooks, Kathryn McGuire, Brandon Holbrooks, Noah Lay, Aaron Holbrooks, Isaac Holbrooks, Emma Lay, Knox Winkler, Grayson Holbrooks.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Alton, Charles, Harold and Jerry Smith.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Sandifer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
