Obituary for Jeanne Arnold McGuffin


Seneca – Jeanne Arnold McGuffin, 87, widow of the late James Broadus McGuffin, 117 Shallowford Way, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Spencer Arnold, Sr. and Thelma Hostetler. Jeanne attended the University of Alabama where she studied English Literature and The Washington and Jefferson University, where she was Valedictorian of her class. She was a member of The Church of Ascension, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Mrs. McGuffin enjoyed playing Bridge and attending the book club with her dear friends.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Steven McGuffin (Tess) of Los Cruces, NM and James Matthew McGuffin of Seneca, SC; daughters Kathy Anne McGuffin of Clemson, SC and Kimberly Lynn McGuffin Brown of Knoxville, TN; brothers, Joseph Spencer Arnold, Jr. of Cullman, Al; sister, Geraldine Crawford Scofield of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, whom she loved very dearly.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Broadus McGuffin.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm, prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park.
