Obituary for Jennie Thomas Childress

JENNIE THOMAS CHILDRESS

Walhalla – Jennie Thomas Childress, 80, wife of the late W. Harold Childress, formerly of Walhalla, passed away peacefully July 14, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Hortense Hodges Thomas. Mrs. Childress attended Columbia College. She was retired from the Oconee County Department of Social Services and was an active member of Saint Luke United Methodist Church. Jennie was a Painter and had a love of Art.

Survivors include son, W.H. “Bud” Childress and wife Amy Burkett Childress; brother, Bill Thomas (Peggy) of Orangeburg; and two grandchildren, “Turner” Childress and Nina Grace Childress.

Mrs. Childress was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

A Graveside Service will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Heritage Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Childress to Saint Luke United Methodist Church, 607 E Main Street, Walhalla, SC 29691. Condolences may be expressed online by visiting www.sandiferfuneralhome.com
