Obituary for Joseph W Lee


Salem, SC- Joseph W. Lee, of 8 Tide Turn Drive, passed away February 5, 2019, at the age of 82.

Joe grew up on Webster Ave in the Bronx, New York City. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Lewis G Watkins Detachment, Knights of Columbus Council 6884, NYC Sergeants Benevolent Association and the Retired SBA. Joe was a Sergeant in the Marines from 1955-1959, he became a New York City Police Officer in 1961 where he worked in the Tactical Patrol Force, TPF “We Ruled the Night”. He worked in the Emergency Service Tk2 as a Sergeant and retired in 1980. Mr. Lee also worked for the Grumman Corporation as a Computer Engineer and Systems Analyst. In 1996, he retired to the Keowee Key Community in Salem, SC.

Mr. Lee is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Andrea) and sons, Joseph A., Thomas (Kimberly) and Michael (Kathy) Lee and seven wonderful grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his late wife Virginia Lee.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 am, Saturday, February 9, 2019 at St. Paul’s the Apostle Catholic Church. Mr. Lee’s remains will be placed at the St. Paul’s Columbarium alongside wife Virginia, who he still loves dearly. The family will receive friends following the service at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
