Obituary for Martha Stuart Mackey


Westminster –Martha Christine Stuart Mackey, 98, widow of the late Reuben Mackey, passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 at Seneca Health and Rehab.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Lee and Arema Leslie Parnell Stuart. Mrs. Mackey was retired from Westminster High School, where she worked as a teacher’s aide and was a member of Westminster Baptist Church.

Martha is survived by daughters, Patricia Cochrane (Keith) of Mills River, NC, and Lynn Mackey of Augusta, GA; special angel and caregiver, Joyce Holland of Westminster; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Martha is preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Owens; brothers, John Thomas “Bud”, Archie, William, Phillip, and Norman; sisters, Ellen, Jenny, Alma, and Frances; and a grandson, Bart Farr.

A Graveside Service will be held 1pm, Monday, August 12, 2019 at Oconee Memorial Park.
