Obituary for Richard Lee Johns


Westminster – Richard Lee Johns, 82, husband of Mattie Bell Bramlett Johns, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Cottingham Hospice House.

A native of Oconee County, he was the son of the late Grady Calvin and Josephine Nixon Johns. Mr. Johns was a retired operator from Carroll’s 76 Station in Westminster and was the former owner and operator of two different Shell Gas Stations. He also was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Ricky Johns (Glenda) of Westminster; daughters, Kathy Johns of Westminster, Lynn Gilden (Tony) of Seneca, and Dawn Addis (Jason) of Seneca; brothers, Calvin, Larry, and Jerry Johns; sisters, Janice Harris, Patsy Knight, and Carol McCrackin; and five grandchildren, Jamie Gilden, Ali Lawing, Adam Johns, Logan McKee, and Kayla Wilson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, William David Johns; and sisters, Betty Ruth Jones and Sara Elizabeth Love.

A graveside service will be held 2 pm, Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Retreat Presbyterian Church Cemetery with full military honors.
